Gaspode (Peter Köller) debuted last year, and each new mix has matched a compelling, enveloping soundscape with an equally engaging arrangement. The ambient intro on this Majora's Mask "Last Day" mix, with its ominous death knell over disturbing string clusters, REALLY sets the stage for the ambient rock/metal ballad that follows. The artist writes:
"Here's my latest submission. Another one. Hope you like it.
It's a remix of »Last Day« from The Legend of Zelda - Majora's Mask (original score by Kōji Kondō)."
It's dark, it's deliberate, and it builds tension & atmosphere expertly, climaxing with a double-tempo foray into almost-metal; Emunator evaluated:
"The glassy, apocalyptic atmosphere established during the first two minutes of this arrangement left no doubt that I was in for a treat. There's an immense level of textural detail that pairs perfectly with the Final Hours chord progression, setting the stage for a dramatic, guitar-centric buildup that adds a layer of melody without losing track of the source tune at any point. There might be some critiques that could be levied against the realism of the guitar and drum sequencing, but the artist clearly put ample effort into adding flair and humanization to the sequenced instruments to combat the limitations of the sample libraries.
Gaspode has already proven himself a master at crafting hauntingly nostalgic electro-acoustic arrangements in the past, but this genuinely feels like one of his most successful outings to date!"
I'll second that; while the climb at 4'20" hit me wrong for a split second, I loved the preceding moody/operatic vocalizing, and in general the blend of acoustic, electric, & electronic timbres really shines. A mesmerizing, dramatic, & unforgettable take on the theme from Peter - excellent!

The lead guitar in this is EXCELLENT. That solo work was inspired. Very good stuff!

This one is fantastic. It really builds quite epically. And I’m catching The NeverEnding Story vibes from the first couple minutes of the track, so that’s awesome.
