From OceansAndrew (Andrew Luers) comes a soaring, uplifting rock arrangement of "Flight" from Xenogears, made on request for a backer of our Balance and Ruin kickstarter:
"This was done for the request album, and was a somewhat typical rock track with synths, though I tried a lot of new production techniques, and tried to get a better drumspace than usual. Intro is actually source. The guitar part is playing the timpani from the intro. :-) The theme itself is very dramatic and majestic, and captures the feeling of being aloft. I tried to keep that feeling throughout, and give the mood of being on board a moving airship."
Good feelings all around; while it has some heavy-ish chugs in there, this is actually a pretty friendly & inspirational arrangement which makes some creative decisions but still retains the core feel/mojo. Clean, crisp production, good dynamics with especially solid impact on drums and bass, plus enough structural changes to avoid repetition = win. Chimpazilla writes:

Didn't bug me, but don't disagree either. I love how positive & energetic this mix is; definitely rocking a j-pop/anime aesthetic, intentionally or otherwise, and is in keeping with brOA's fondness for major-key, motivational melodies. This is an enjoyable take on the source material. It is rocking and energetic, but at the same time it has this nice floaty, even gentle quality. I did like how the outro emphasized that 'gentle' aspect of the track. Nice work on changing the timpani to guitar as well!

Sweet mix! One of my favorite tracks from Xenogears, and it's about time that someone did a power rock version of the song!

Holy crap, my mind is blown away. This track is certainly what I needed. I love me some energetic uplifting goodness. Bravo, OA, you knocked it out of the park as always!
