Friday the 13th? What?! Nothin' unlucky about PHAT BEATS... start your weekend off right with some Mega Man 2 electro from TheGuitahHeroe, who just keeps getting better - impressive consistency AND productivity recall WillRock, halc, and others, but of course Jamison definitely has his own, evolving sound. He writes:

"Anyway, huge huge HUGE inspiration from Proto-Raptor's "Chemixtrixx" with this one. Doesn't mean it's anywhere near as good though.

This was created just before the start of GMRMB 2011. I really don't even remember why I chose this track to remix, other than the fact that Mega Man music = beast. I never even listened to the song, just....remixed it. I suppose that most people on OCR get musical inspiration from listening to the actual song and thinking, "Hey, you know what would be great here...?" In this case, it's the exact opposite; I got inspiration from listening to another remix (Chemixtrixx) of a totally different track and just thinking, "I'm gonna go all out with one." So I needed to find a track to convert into the electro genre, and Quickman, for whatever reason, was the first to come to mind. Go figure. 8D Anyway, hope you all enjoy this "Electroe!" (lolololimsocleverhahaha)

Also, should this be accepted, it would be a landmark of mine: this is the first remix I've submitted to OCR which I hadn't first switched to Mod Review on the WIP forum before submitting. Trying to take steps, I guess :X Huge thanks to the guys at the WIP forum for providing some minor feedback and suggestions, namely DaMonz, Nonamer, AntiSine, and SuperiorX. Biggest thanks of all to PrototypeRaptor, however, for being such a huge inspiration for this track, and probably future tracks as well :D"

Nice; TGH has been clearly improving and after I got over the discrepancy between his pseudonym and his music, I've been enjoying every single track. This one's no exception, and if you're gonna be inspired by a mix, you might as well go with a classic, right? OA sums up my own reaction, which is wholly positive:

"This is really awesome stuff. Solid production, great ornamentation, and a very fully realized sound. The source really lends itself well to this electro style, and besides the parts where it gets a little too far from the source for an extended period of time, this is near flawless, IMO. Absolutely love it."

Oji in with the alley-oop:

"Really dug the flow, dynamics and creativity of the arrangement, including some great original writing in the middle. Not much else to say but I dig it. A fresh take on a classic. Nice work, Jamison!"

Can't think of anything I'd change, and I love the overall aesthetic; great work, definitely a new jam for 2012 that I'll be queuing up often!

This is a great remix! I'm surprised by how well you have put it together, including, not only a good deal of source but a lot of your own. I completely would rather of this as the background music while playing Mega Man 2!

Hearing the upbeat electronia dance beat influence for PR in here, but TGH still managed to put a pulsating spin on it that gives it life. The second half of the ReMix is where it really seems to shine and switch things up, but overall, lots of energy and a good beat makes this enjoyable.

This was buried among all the MM mixes on my Shuffle forever, but it came up recently and infected. my brain. LOVE the relentless energy of the percussion and how it comes back after that little detour. This song pumps me up.

edit: Woops. Got infracted for trolling and stuff. I'll post a real review.

Umm. Welcome to Arizona, I guess?

Anyway, I liked this. Got a pretty serious ABBA vibe around 1:40-1:45. Not sure if you want to hear that, but there it is.

It's got some serious hard-hitting bass, I'll give you that. A lot of the techno-ey parts tend to get old after a while. The change of pace around 2/3 was an important edition. The remix went pretty well. So don't sweat things too much, TheStringedInstrumentChampion. He's right to an extent, but it's hardly ruining Quick Man or anything. I'd say high 7's, low 8's.

At the risk of garnering hate, gotta say I very slightly agree with urdailypee. (Very very slightly, VERY slightly, just in as much as I think it could have used slightly more effort). This is a really nice mix and it sounds great, and is nice and clear on my monitors, but it seems to meander a bit too much which is something that you notice from time to time with electronica mixes... It has a really nice verse and a chorus and the break at 2:20 is really awesome, but throughout the majority of the song, it lingers on the same four on the floor drum pattern. After the initial repetition, it would have been cool to hear some kind of drastic change with the patterns in the arrangement instead of coming back to that same part. The kick drum does seem to be a bit too upfront but that's a minor gripe. I don't want you to think I am h8in' TGH because I do really enjoy this song and your work, just sharing some thoughts. I don't think the flaws detract from the song too much and it is still quite enjoyable.

 I'll post a real review.

I really do love this song. IMO this is probably the mark where you really started definitely developing your current style in remixing / music in general (but even then you've changed so much) Maybe the whips memory did too, but this is definitely close to your newer house stuff. I absolutely love this song because I'm a sucker for long, drawn out slides on synths built into the melody.

The ambience at 2:23 was awesome of course, and the drop afterwards was absolutely epic. Seemed like the song was going to end for a second, and it came back full throttle. Very cool. The ending was kind of funky which I really liked.

This should be an insta download for any electro fans. It's super catchy, and just "cool". Yeah that's the only word I can think of.
