I think I'll skip the gratuitous comments about the ubiquity of CT mixes, esp. of this particular theme, and get to the gist of it: mv maintains his reputation of immaculately produced, slick, melodic, creative arrangements, this time working an awe-inspiring variety of timbres into a jazz-hop groove. A smood sax solo, percolating cross-panned synth textures, full vibe B3 organ, a nicely mastered compressed drum beat, satisfyingly deep but also active bass, and - clearly the salient, standout element - a flooring ethnic string guitar instrument of some nature. Can't specifically ID it, so make your guesses or perhaps mv can comment - whatever it is, it kicks (updated: GrayLightning informs me it's a Saz - "a turkish stringed instrument from the family of santoor, bouzuki, sitar"). This is just a fully realized piece - in general, mv's style seems to result in very comprehensive, satisfying mixes, where there's arrangement going on, variety, and usually an explorative solo or two, coupled with excellent samples and performances (the sax here is pristine), and then married with very discerning production methodology. You could listen for chinks in the sonic armor of his stuff, and who knows, you might come up with some personal nitpicks, but overall both style AND substance are in full attendance on a regular basis, unlike myself in my senior year of high school. Great mix, smooth ending, very covered material, but a welcome addition to a talented if crowded family of mixes. Recommended.
