An instant classic - not Mozart, sure, but a good idea (depending on your perspective) to mix the multi-series Final Fantasy Chocobo theme with the . . . Macarena. Thus yielding the mutant offspring, the one, the only: Chocarena. Characteristic of the original hit that made at least half of the dancing adult world look like happy but uncoordinated schmucks (in a good way!), this piece features a peppy dance beat, rhythmic chord hits, blatant overuse of clapping, and a general distaste for all that is serious and decent - so I for one like it :) In addition to some soloing exposition towards the end of the middle, we get a break and then change of gears into a gradually accelerating "Wipeout" (think The Surfaris, not Psygnosis) bit that then jumps right back into that good ole Chocobo theme. Hell - why not? Ours is not to reason why, ours is but to listen to strange-but-fun hybrids of peppy Latin-American dance hits crossed with peppy Uematsu Chocobo-themes. This has been available in various circuits on the Internet and lord knows where else for a while, and now takes a justified place in the OC ReMix canon. Ole ^^

"HEYYY CHOCARENA!"
Woo!
Love it.
I turned it on, put it on my stereo system, cranked it up and
danced!
*Listens and dances some moar*
Yep, still awesome.

I love all of the chocobo-chocobo remixes, but this one is the best
by far. I love how you did the background music, it kind of reminds
me of double dragon games. You also didn't just stay with the
normal chocobo tune, you mixed it up, but in a good way.
Yeah, it's just overall a great song, listen to it almost every
day. Mmmmyup

Love that slow-down and speed-up part around 2:50. Somehow,
everything just falls perfectly together. It really gives me a
picture of a day at the amusement park. Just letting the wind
take your hair as you ride up and down the roller coaster or
simply walking and talking with your buddies. Good for a sunny
day.
I couldnt have said it better myself. I dont know if this is for da
playlist but its a good one!

I first heard this one on 8-bit theatre, and I loved the tune. So I
actually watched through the credits just to see what the song was,
so I could then search the internet for this song. Definitly
downloading this one, and I'll play it over and over again! :D

There aren´t many instrumentschanges compared to the original, but
DUUUUDE, this still rocks. First time I heard, I just downloaded it
right away. Those who reads this knows or will probably know
why.
Thanks again Draggor. 8)

Hi.
I just heard this song via the animation of 8-Bit Theater, and I
came to look for it, but it's gone. Could someone please inform me
as to why?

There aren't any words in any language to describe the noise I made
when I first heard this song. It's soooooooooo good. GAH! I just
wish more Final Fantasy characters had a mystical love children
with one hit wonder pop. Just imagine it. Moogles mate
with...um...lets see...nevermind, the children of everything are
just too frightening. But this child, the Chocerana, this child is
the most adorable kid I have ever seen/heard. Great job.

When I started listening to this Remix, a strange image formed in
my head: Cloud walks into a Chocobo Stable, a big boombox held on
his shoulder. This song starts playing. All the chocobos start
bobbing their head and stomping their feet to the music...it's
weird, but that's what happens...
- Gasdyf_Warefayer on February 24, 2005
this is by far the most creative and well-done Chocobo theme remix
on the site. when I first heard it, I wanted to get up and do a
happy little dance.
the arrangement is good and well-paced, everything is decently
balanced, and I love how the main theme was kept in the MIDI-style
beep form. the "wipeout" segment was icing on the cake, giving the
feeling that you're getting two remixes for the price of one
download. all in all, it makes me want to thank Squenix for
Chocobos until the end of time.
bravo, Draggor. you are most certainly teh roxxors.

I am officially obsessed with the Chocobo theme now 'cause of you,
Draggor. ^^ This is the best Chocobo remix I've heard so far, and
I'm certain it's going to remain my favourite. It actually sounds
like it belongs in Gold Saucer, and not all of the remixes sound
like they 'belong' in the game. Great work! ^_^
- Babysoft-chan on July 1, 2004
It should be noted that this song is used as the title theme for
the flash adaptation of 8-Bit Theater. I consider it it's official
theme. Every time there's a new episode I have to break out this
song.

Wow, this peice is so nice. It's just bouncy enough to think it was
actually in the game. The beat just makes me want to clap my
hands!! :P

Draggor, I know you've heard this before, but you are a musical
genious. (No offense if you're good at other things too:D )
First of all, the chocobo music is already one of my favorite
reacurring melodies from Final Fantasy, its very energetic
and...uplifting. But you took that song to "the next level" with
Chocorena. Its now my favorite song and I have to listen to it
every day. You overcame noticeable repitition and had a great
opening- that definitely earns you some "points". The variety keeps
me listening and awaiting your next songs.
By the way, I first heard this song on Flashplayer.com from 8-Bit
Theater and instantly loved it. Because of your song, I got
introduced to OCR!

Many arrangements of the chocobo theme become overwhelmed by the
melody, but Draggor skillfully avoids this pitfall. He begins this
track with an energetic guitar line reminiscent of "Mods de
Chocobo", adding bass, drums, and a generous allotment of hand
claps to form an accompaniment strong enough to support the first
2'30". Another danger in a chocobo arrangement is repetition, but
Draggor provides variety by interspersing "The Man with the Machine
Gun", "Racing Chocobos ~ Place Your Bets", and of course The
Surfaris' "Wipeout" via "Electric de Chocobo". After the
increasingly frantic "Electric", he returns to the chocobo melody
and brings the track to a satisfying conclusion.
All in all, an very fun and well-executed remix. It set my toes
tapping from the first bar and sustained that vitality for the
better part of five minutes and over several plays; DJP's
description of it as "an instant classic" is well-deserved. I look
forward to hearing more from Draggor.
