Breath of Fire

Haroon's latest is not from FF but instead represents our first coverage of Breath of Fire (GBA version), and is one of his better works in that it mixes a very delicate and melodic piano line with some well-constructed trance beats and a frenetic, thumpin' bassline and just the right amount of reverb. The underlying delayed synth blips and bleeps that give the track depth and motion can be clearly heard during the drop-out at 4'06", and the intro is nice and stripped-down as well. Haroon writes: "all arranged no midi (I have a game boy advance and I play it in my empty time) also this is my first non-squaresoft remix!!! this is like my 30th remix I did since I started making mixes, so I feel proud that my 30th wasn't a Squaresoft mix". Cool beans, and congrats to Mr. FFMusic DJ for bucking his own trend, branching out, and coming up with a winner. Recommended.

The song works pretty well in trance, and FFmusic DJ brings out the best in it. Nice work, as per his usual.

I got this from a friend and this is what got me hooked on OC remixes and made me want to "express my feelings" for remixes that I like, this remix was beautifully done.Great job!

Great remix! Def. one of the best out of all the songs on ocremix, although i'm bias towards trance stuff.
Is sheet music for the first 28 seconds posted anywhere?

Although this is a techno mix,
you can really FEEL the sadness swirl
around the music...or maybe not, who knows?
Download it and see for yourselves.
Nice work, djdude!

ffmusic dj makes some really great remixes, but IMO this is probably his best. I love the pure trance vibe and the piano solo is a nice addition.

A lot of the trance on this site suffers from being too quiet, too 'tinny,' especially some of the older stuff. That's why I love this song so much, after the brilliant moving piano, an amazing synth lead comes in and with it brings an oomph not seen in many trance songs. Very well mastered, and it's also amazing that the trance section keeps the emotion of the piano somewhat, and that would be very hard to do. Kudos.

Sounds like a trance version of Pachebel's Canon, awesome!
It's making me dance, can't argue with that.
FFmusic Dj, one of the best dance mixers on the site, possibly is the best!

Just an odd note, but I had this mix playing and my wife was in the room.
Suddenly she exclaimed, "It's Puff the Magic Dragon!" "What?", I said, thoroughly confused.
"It's Puff the Magic Dragon," she repeated and then sensing my confusion she started humming the tune.
Then it clicked. The melody of this tune is very similar to Puff the Magic Dragon's. So the next time you find yourself humming along to this tune you'll have some words to go with it. :D
Love the community here, this is my first post.
I love all your hard work on the music; many songs on this site have made dull days at work much more enjoyable. Someday I'll have a song to add to this wonderful collection. But not today.

My ears get stimulated by this remix almost daily and there is no words to describe how much I like this. Actually I can't find anything negative about it. :o

This is the best remix on the site, in my opinion. Wonderful track that combines two styles very well. I love listening to it. :D

While not as good as his cosmo canyon remix of falling star, this song shows why Haroon is one of the best ever.

THIS is dance remixing at its best. Great intro, simple but effective drums, excellent arrangement and accompaniment. The lead synth is really the main strength of this remix; I'm pretty sure it's FM7, and it sounds damn good. My only complaint (I had to think for a bit) is that it could use a bit more variation on the melody.

i'm not a fan of the genre and in fact, for the most part, try not to listen to most stuff of this style
however, this mix is one of my favorite arrangements ever and by far my favorite breath of fire arrangement. There is no doubt that anytime this guy touches a tune, its gonna be good, but i didn't know it would be this good.
i got this song a loooong time ago, like over a year but i hadn't yet commented on it.
the introductin is very beautiful, the piano evokes a melancholic mood better than even some of the more popular "sad" remixes. the intricacy with which its arranged is spectacular... sets the mood for the rest of the tune.
the transitions are the key to this piece, i think. the transition into the synth at the very beginning caught me so off gaurd i nearly cried with joy. :)
in any case, the groove is moving, it is constantly moving forward - the drive of the tune is strong and willed. very good synths and a very persistent bass presence.
in the end you feel in the song and a part of the beat. its not a coincidence that i looked down at my body and found that i was dancing to it before i realized that i was.
excellent work of art, and if anybody hasnt gotten it already, go get it.
