A little pre-snow season (for most of us in the US anyway) jam adapted from Mario Kart 64 comes in courtesy of DarkeSword. Upbeat is the name of the game, with quick hi-hat and ride cymbals accentuating the bongo-laden percussion track that a funky rise/fall bassline sits underneath as bells chime, choral pads fill in the background, and saxes duel. Actually has a bit of a Jamaican/carribean vibe mixed in with the wintry tone. Coming off Shariq's previous ReMix, it seems an increased predilection for saxophone and an upbeat, jazzier style have been recent trends, and while both these mixes are quite different they nevertheless share some positive traits in common that link them in my mind. Both, for example, feature some really strong counterpart duet-style harmony, which I think works well in the contexts used. Keep this one around and remember to pull it out the first day you get some snow - if it hasn't already come :) Good stuff.

Might be the Snowland, but this feels like a good winter time party in the Bahamas. Nice and jazzy with some cool bells and hot sax. I quite like it.

I used to really like this one. Alas, the hard-panned congas are too repetitive for me now. Wish they were quieter and less dominant.

It was intended to be a snowy atmosphere, and I kind of get that with the tubular bells, but the congas/bongos made me think "beach". Oh well, the glock/mallets bring me back in. I do get the feeling of riding in some sort of vehicle and looking out to see the landscape.

My brain was switching back and forth between snow and beach, and then I read your comment and had to laugh. Whatever atmosphere my brain can or can't settle on, I love the use of samples and the overall atmosphere. Great work!

I like the energy the percussion loop brings. Not the best samples, but the organ and choir bring a nice atmosphere and the arrangement is good. I like how it sounds really upbeat while still being somewhat mellow (at least compared to other mixes).

A nice staple of my holiday mix playlist, every year. The bells really do it. Happy Holidays, all : )

I love this track, it's even on my Christmas playlist. I love the Christmassy-sounding bells, it gives it such a nice Wintry feeling. Wonderful.

Pretty synthy sounds, but the arrangement covers pretty well for it. Nice driving and layered percussion; it's really clean sounding, like fresh fallen snow. :

Good breakdowns and a middle section that expands things a bit, and then back to the main melody. This soundscape really does lend itself to racing through the snow, but the feeling of being safe while doing so. Perfectly captured, nice work.

This game brings back many fond memories for me, and its music has probably been permanently ingrained in the grooves of my brain. This is an excellent mix that brings to mind racing through wintery scenes...perfect.

Oh it´s here alright, for the time being. ight now it´s melting away, it´s like COME OOON! This is northern Sweden!

As for the remix, very skilled done. Nice instruments like trumpets, church bells, cool drums and normal bells. I like it alot. Although it´s a party, DS doesn´t goes rock on. This is a somewhat calm remix, it´s a snow course after all. That synth that this piece begins with is also good, how can I describe it...funky, groovy, I don´t know, it just speaks to me.

Around the middle of this remix, a new melody came into the game, I listened to it and thought

Hey, this melody really fits in good, I remember this from the game and the course, it´s so calm and...HEY! This is the Rainbow course! Thought I recognized it.

However, since it took awhile to come to that conclusion, it means that that melody fitted like a glove to this excellent mix, marvelous work Darke.
