RebeccaETripp is here to map out the universe, with some world-building-worthy BGM inspired by Threads of Fate! Rebecca had a surprising VGM influence here, but when you listen to the source theme and then compare it with Rebecca's rendition, it 100% makes sense:

"This is my second Threads of Fate, aka Dewprism, arrangement. I also did a cover of the Rasdan theme! :) It's a remix of "Book of Cosmos", originally composed by Junya Nakano. While I'm a fan of Nakano's style, and this game's entire OST, for some reason I've rarely gotten around to doing covers for ToF! So, this was a nice change of pace! The vibe and instrumentation was heavily inspired by various SimCity OSTs! This track was nominated and voted for by my patrons on Subscribestar: https://subscribestar.com/rebeccaetripp. If you'd like to have some influence on what music and other projects I create each month, you can subscribe to me as well."

I love, love, love (LOVE) modern SimCity music. For example, SimCity 4 and SimCity 3000 are awesome soundtracks, so anything in that vein is an automatic "two thumbs up". With Nakano's original track being a mood loop, it was easy enough for Rebecca to add her musical herbs and spices of creative pivots and expansions. Given Tripp's extensive new age repetoire, it shouldn't be a surprise that she would nail something like this, yet this more abstract structure is somewhat of a shift, an aspect that judge Emunator also felt Tripp delivered on:

"Chromatic percussion is one of the areas where I find Rebecca's work to shine the brightest, so right from the jump I was intrigued. The moody strings lend a sense of progression to the arrangement. There's a lot of noodling here, but there are a few moments where everything coalesces into some really lush, beautiful sweeps, particularly starting at 1:55, that really makes the whole listen worthwhile. Really beautiful stuff!

[...] For a piece like this, the mixing and sequencing gets the job done and accomplishes what it set out to do very nicely!"

The strings used in the synth's stead preserve some of the tension from the original, yet there's a more contemplative air here, so kudos to Tripp's personalized instrumentation and for invoking a little more textural evolution than the source tune. I enjoyed the second half more too as it felt more playful and varied, and the SimCity inspiration is undoubtably apparent. I'd argue that helped this version be even more open & engaging than "Book of Cosmos" by side-stepping some of the darker electronic edge from the source's synths. Whether you're deep in thought, deep in simluated construction, or just needing something to repeat and veg out to, Rebecca sets a nice scene!

Very calm and charming. This remix can feel right at home in many a playlist. It's easy to let this song drift through the ears.
